Hinterland Estate — 715 Bangalow Road, Talofa

Some properties photograph well. Others are so extraordinary that you find yourself standing in the driveway thinking — this is going to be one of the best shoots of the year. That’s exactly how it felt arriving at 715 Bangalow Road in Talofa. Set across rolling green acreage in the Byron Bay hinterland, this estate is a world of its own — contemporary pavilion-style architecture, a full-size tennis court, resort-style pool and spa, and views across the hills that stretch all the way to the horizon.

As a Byron Bay hinterland real estate photographer, I’ve shot a lot of acreage properties through Bangalow, Talofa, Nashua, Eureka and the surrounding hills. But this one is genuinely in a league of its own. We delivered a full-day shoot here — interior photography, drone aerials, and twilight coverage timed to catch the golden hour light across the property.

The Approach — Pavilion Architecture

The home is designed as a series of connected pavilions, with a central timber boardwalk leading to a grand pivot-door entry flanked by manicured gardens and mature topiary. The architectural style is contemporary rural — warm-toned cladding, exposed timber beams, hardwood window frames, and a roofline that echoes the undulating hills beyond. It’s bold without being flashy, and it photographs beautifully.

The twin pavilion layout creates a dramatic sense of arrival. As a real estate photographer, I love symmetrical compositions — they give the image a sense of balance and prestige. This entry shot tells you immediately that this is no ordinary property.

The Pool and Spa — Resort Living at Home

The centrepiece of the outdoor living is a stunning lap pool with an integrated circular spa, flanked by a timber-decked cabana with day beds and a separate lounge pavilion. At twilight, with the warm glow from the home’s interior spilling out across the water, this area is absolutely magic.

We timed the twilight session carefully — arriving well before sunset to set up, then shooting through the golden hour as the sky shifted from warm orange to soft purple. The pool lights, interior warm tones, and that hinterland sky all came together in about a twenty-minute window. This is why twilight photography is worth the planning — images like this create an emotional response that daytime shots simply can’t match.

The overhead drone perspective shows the scale of the pool area and how it connects to the main pavilions. For large estates like this, the aerial view is essential — it gives buyers a clear understanding of the layout and the generous proportions of the outdoor living spaces.

The Master Suite — Double-Height Luxury

The master bedroom is something special. Double-height ceilings with full-length windows and timber louvres that frame a panoramic view across the property — you can see the rolling green hills, the tennis court, and the tree-lined boundaries all from the bed. Natural light floods the space, and the scale is genuinely impressive.

Bedroom photography in a room this large requires careful lens selection. Shoot too wide and it distorts; shoot too tight and you lose the sense of space. We aim for a natural perspective that accurately represents how the room feels when you walk in — generous, light-filled, and connected to the landscape outside.

The Ensuite — Freestanding Bath with a View

The master ensuite takes indoor-outdoor living to another level. A freestanding soaking tub sits on a private timber deck, with bi-fold doors opening to a covered balcony overlooking the tennis court and rolling paddocks. It’s the kind of detail that makes buyers stop scrolling and start calling their agent.

For real estate photography, bathrooms are often overlooked — but a space like this can be one of the most powerful images in a campaign. It sells the lifestyle, not just the floor plan.

Outdoor Entertaining — Covered Alfresco Dining

The covered outdoor dining area is perfectly positioned between the main living pavilion and the pool. Heavy timber beams, a retractable shade sail, and a large dining table for ten — all with an uninterrupted view across the manicured grounds to the tennis court beyond. This is a home built for entertaining on a grand scale.

The Tennis Court — Championship Quality

A full-size tennis court with multi-sport line markings, basketball ring, and a dedicated courtside pavilion — set in the middle of perfectly maintained lawns with the hills rolling away behind it. From the air, the scale is remarkable.

Drone photography is essential for properties with features like this. From ground level, you get a nice photo of a tennis court. From 30 metres up, you get the full picture — the court in context with the estate, the manicured grounds, the surrounding hinterland, and the sheer scale of the property. It’s the difference between showing a feature and telling a story.

Drone Photography — The Full Estate

We flew multiple drone passes throughout the day and into twilight to capture the property from every angle. The wide aerials show the estate in its hinterland context — the pavilion buildings, pool, tennis court, and acres of rolling green paddocks all visible in a single frame.

Architectural Detail

The architecture rewards close attention. The combination of timber framing, glass balustrades, weatherboard cladding, and copper-toned accents gives the buildings a warmth that sits perfectly in the hinterland landscape. Each pavilion has its own character while maintaining a cohesive design language across the estate.
